Mainspring: Tune your Mac

macOS hides a lot of useful settings behind Terminal commands. You find a defaults write line on a forum, paste it in, and it works. Then you want the old behaviour back and nobody wrote down how. Mainspring collects more than 90 of those settings and turns them into labelled switches in plain English. Before it changes anything it saves the previous value, so every change can be put back with one click. Nothing is permanent. What's inside: - 90+ power-ups across Finder, Dock, speed, privacy, power and screenshots. Examples: show hidden files, folders on top, no .DS_Store on network drives, instant Dock, no window animations, faster Mission Control, password on sleep, no personalized ads, a custom screenshot folder, Hot Corners, and faster key repeat than System Settings allows. - Recipes: eight ready-made bundles that apply and revert as a set. They are Speed Boost, Screenshot Studio, Privacy & Security, Declutter & Focus, Writer's Focus, Power Windows, Finder Power and Developer Setup. They're useful for setting up a new Mac in one go. - Scenes: save a mix of settings as a context, like Work, Focus or Presentation, and switch your whole Mac in one click. - Automation: scenes can switch by themselves when your Mac is unplugged, a display connects, an app like Zoom opens, or at a time of day. - Power controls: keep the Mac awake with the lid closed, or caffeinate it on a timer during long jobs. - Clean Mode: locks the keyboard, trackpad and mouse so you can wipe your Mac down without typing into whatever is open. Hold to unlock. - On Now: one list of everything you've changed, so nothing is a mystery later. Mainspring only shows the switches that actually work on your version of macOS. Everything stays on your Mac: no account and no uploads. Its only network call verifies your license. It isn't on the Mac App Store because some power-ups, like staying awake with the lid closed, need access that the App Store doesn't allow. It's signed and notari
