List Bulb 2.2: Weekly Launch Cohorts
What List Bulb 2.2 shipped in August 2026—weekly launch cohorts, the Launches hub, bulb-count ranking, free-spot visibility, and launch-week emails.
List Bulb3 min read
List Bulb 2.0 gave founders accounts and plans. 2.1 was lifecycle polish — unlisting, emails, analytics — all on the changelog, no dedicated post. 2.2 (August 1, 2026) changes something more fundamental: how launches compete for attention.
The problem with one long feed
Before 2.2, every product landed in the same undifferentiated stream. A great product launched on a slow Tuesday could get buried under six months of accumulated listings by the time anyone scrolled past the homepage fold. Visibility depended on when you happened to launch relative to everything that came before you — not on your own launch week.
What changed
Weekly cohorts. Products now launch into a cohort tied to the calendar week (Monday–Sunday) they go live in, instead of competing against the entire catalog's history. Fresh visibility every Monday.
Launches hub. Browse any past or upcoming week's cohort from one place — see Launches. The week picker shows the date range and launch count for each week, with a live indicator on the current one.
Bulb-count ranking. Within a cohort, ranking is straightforward: most bulbs (upvotes) wins. The top spot in a concluded week gets a Product of the Week badge on its listing — shown only once the week is actually over, not while voting is still live.
Free-spot visibility. Choosing the Free plan now shows how many tools are ahead of you in the queue before you submit, so "should I pay for QuickPass" is an informed call instead of a guess.
Launch-week emails. Owners get an email when their launch week is scheduled, and a second one the moment their product actually goes live — on top of the submission and approval emails from 2.1.
Why it mattered
A directory only works if new, good products can still be found. Cohorts turn "buried under everything that came before" into "this week's ten, and I know exactly which week I'm in." It also gives founders something to rally behind on launch day — a cohort to lead, not a bottomless feed to disappear into.
If you are a founder reading this
- Submit and you'll land in whichever week's cohort is currently open.
- Check the Launches hub to see who you're launching alongside — or browse a past week you missed.
- On the Free plan, upvoting other products in your cohort is part of the loop — it's not just about your own listing.
- Watch your inbox around your scheduled week; the launch-day email is your cue to go push traffic.
The changelog has the full dated list, including the 2.1 polish this post skipped over.
FAQ
- What are weekly launch cohorts?
- Instead of every new product competing against the entire catalog's history from day one, List Bulb now groups launches into weekly cohorts starting each Monday. Your product gets a fresh, focused spotlight during its launch week instead of getting buried under older listings.
- How is ranking decided within a launch week?
- By bulb count (upvotes) earned during that week. The top-ranked product in a concluded week gets a Product of the Week badge on its listing.
- Can I see how full the free queue is before I submit?
- Yes. The plan step now shows how many free spots are open ahead of you, so you know what you're choosing between free review and QuickPass before you commit.
